A VISITOR'S IMPRESSIONS OF PUKEKOHE
When first arriving at Pukekohe station, on asking himself, Where is the town? the many waggons and produce about tell him thui it appears to l)e a place of noto: so we wend our wav up a t(.<.tpath to the bridge over the iailway. Then the business premises come into view. The is always seen first but you don t open lor early callers; so after a bounteous breakfast set out to explore. Well, one could not but be impressed with your well-kept streets and loot paths: the tar and .rushed shells theeron are new to me—you can I beat streets or paths being wide. Some important towns one sees you would think nobody lived there except the postman, and be has a .ion to get through the weeds and water at times. Your eletcric light and water supply are a great boon to progressive people, and youi .oU,uuu loan ought to go a long way for comfort by efficient drainage, etc. What surprised me most was all the residents I spoke to took great into est in the town and district, as to what its products tire, and the (inanities sent away. Your libraity and reading-room aie only in their infancy; knowledge is progress. Your climate is bracing, as there is always a hill to climb and a beautiful view if one is an admirer oi things beautiful; and you can grow (lowers to compare well with our Southern products. "Old Sol has done his best to shine on this short stay; but I will take away many impressions of Pukekohe as a to,yn with a great future if engineered fcy men and women not too fond of the getting of wealth only, but health and beauty that a wise Creator has given us to improve upon. "WANDERER,"
