PRESENTATIONS

MR DAVID ROULSTON. Members of Mr. \V. Roulstons stair assembled at the Masoni/> Hail on Wednesday evening for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr David Roulston, a member of the staff, in view of Iris approaching marriage. The hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion, and practically the whole of the staff was present. Dancing formed the chief feature of the entertainment, the music for which was contributed by Miss Elsie Fitness (piano), Miss Marion Wood and Mr. J. C. Russell (violins), while extras were contributed by Mr. Dave Blake. Mr. -Tack Brown proved an efficient M.C Vocal iteirs rendered by Miss F. Lewis, Messrs. J. Brown, E. L. Curnow and J. O'Malley were well received. Supper was partaken of and duly appreciated. During an interval in the pro ceedings Mr. J. G. Russell, on behalf of the staff, asked Mr. Roulston's acceptance of three pieces of plate, a silver teapot, a cake dish and a hot water jug, as a mark of the esteem in which he was held, and the goodfellowship that had always existed between him and other members of the staff. "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"' was enthusiastically rendered, after which cheers were given for the recipient and the future Mrs. David Roulston. The recipient in response thanked the staff for the handsome presents, trusting that the same goodfellowship would continue to exist in the future as it had in the past. A most successful function terminated with the rendering of "Auld Lang Syne," the National Anthem, and cheers.

MR. G. H. GORRINGE. ■Air. G. H. Gorringe, who has acted as supervisor of the local technical school for some time, and who has been appointed to a higher position at New Plymouth, was met at the technical school last evening by the school committee and scholars. Mr. F. Perkins, chairman of the school committee, euolgised the work of Mr. Gorringe during his term hero, and as a mark of appreciation of his work and the esteem in which he was held, presented him with a suitably inscribed leather wallet from the boys of his continuai ion woodwork, classes.
