PAPATOETOE. METHODIST ANNIVERSARY. I The Papatoetoe Methodist Sun(H School held their in the Methodist March 14th, the Rev. A*. A. Murrß ■of the Tivoli Mission, preachM imorning and afternoon to large cl gregations, Mr. F. Souster conduß ingthe evening service. The singM of the children was fine, and proved a musical treat. I Wilfred Firth, as conductor, vS complimented on every side for M splendid rendering of the chorJß Miss Louie Reid's solo was vB sweetly sung, every word being tinctly enunciated. Miss Bessie derson also sang with very £ o °d feet. The duet by Misses W. RBJ and E. Sanderson came in for a g<pj deal of praise. The collections for fl day were £l3 9s, being nearly ■ better than last year. HH On Tuesday night, 16th inst, flj prize giving took place Mrs LflJ assisted by Mrs Farnsworth, pHJ sented the ifii7.es, Miss Bessie SH derson receiving a special prH having earned the possible numH of marks foi' the year, viz., 3M Master Cedric Firth received* special prize with the highest maH on the boys' side, with 340 marksß A short address by Mr. Chrisß pher (superintendent) emphasiM the necessity of the parents supp« ing the school with financial aid,H the infant department was in nl of sand tables, chairs, etc. The children's tea and social « held on Friday night, 17th.

GRAND AUTUMN FAIR. ST. JOHN'S CHURCH. In connection with the ahM church a grand autumn fair is toB held in the Town Hall on Wednesiß next, 31st. I The Right Hon. the Prime MiriH ter hoped to have opened it at 2fl but unfortunately his illness \H probably make that impossible. 1 The congregation is anxious to :■ £SOO to the new church building fifl this year, and the proceeds of ■ fair are to go towards that amouM A feature~of the function will ■ a great deal of lovely rustic work. ■ the stalls will be in the form ■ rustic summer houses. Nearly ■ men are making them, and the effH in the hall will be unique. ThH will be a fine display of useful fl beautiful articles. There is to bfl produce and home industries stH sweets, ice-creams, sideshows, iH refreshments. Music will be rupplfl by the Boys' Brass Band and fl Papatoetoe Orchestra. Given a fine day this promises ■ be almost successful effort. ■
