EXECUTIVE MEETING I i The executive r-oniniitloc of the Franklin A. and P. Socict.v met on Tuesday night, when Ihore were present: Messrs. J. N. Massey (president). A. P. Daysh. J. Reynolds, C. McConmVk, J. K. Hamilton, F. .7. Morrow, H. Stuart. C. F. Shiphcrd, Jas Wvlie, IT. Keith. W. J. P. Sham "J. TT. Keith, F. Ballard. .1. Roulston. J. Pollock, If. Bookett, T>. Fulton. P. T.. Alien and the secretary, Mr. I). U. Ifamillon. Conference of Societies. The secretary reported that he had attended a conference of A. and P. Societies in Auckland, when Mr John Massey was elected th" representative on the Board of Agriculture. Waiuku Town Band. Mr. Hamilton also reported that the Waiuku Town Band had been engaged for the show at a fee of H". His action was confirmed. Letter of Sympathy. It war- resol/ed to forward a letter of sympathy to Mi . 'I. I l ' Wilkinson with regard to the accident tojiis littto daughter. Jean, who was seriously injured on People's Day. as a result oT a mishap to the "Ocean Wave." Leijal Opinion. On the motion of ihe president, seconded by Mr. J. li. Keith, il was decided to obtain legal opinion as to lho society's liability in cornierlinn with ful ure aendont': lo • hl<v howon show day.. Enlarging of Stock Pens. Mr. Parry II Sutton, of JY.patoetoe, wrote urging the society to enlarge the fal stocl; pens for. next year. Left in the hands of a subcommittee . Protest Dismissed. Mr. Thos. ITonlt. Karaka, lodged a protesl against the winner ol' the maiden hunters' competition on tin l grounds that tlie animal was not up to the required standard, and that it was not ridden with saddle. Tie claimed, the conditions of the catalogue were not adhered to.- Tlie secretary explained that as soon as hehad received Mr. Hoult's protest, he at once investigated the matter and received all the evidence he could. The stewards in the ring declared Mr. Turner rode with his srrtldle on. and a certificate stoned l>v Mr. P. G. V. Fear certified that Mr. Turner and saddle weighed over 12st. After hearing the statement from the secretary which was corroborated by the ring stewards, and the production or the certificate. Mr. I'. Shipherd moved and Mr. RouMon seconded, thai a ■ the society had considered the protest it could not stand. The motion was carried. Allotment of Prizes. Tlie p-e-sident. se.-ielar;.. and Mr. .7. Roulston were appointed a subcommittee to peruse the prize list and allot the pri/.' s 1 , the various winners. Ground Improvements. The secivlarv. Mr. T). R. Our accommodation is very poor, however, and about five thousand nounds is at present required' to o.iuin the showground with cattle pens, buildino'l', stand, etc. We must strive to increase our members' roll so as to have a thonsand financial memh»rs. At present over three hundred members have failed to pnv their subscription.
