IfIARAMARUA. MONUMENT FUND DANCE. A dance was held last Wednesday to obtain funds for laying out and keeping in order the ground round our monument. Everything was done voluntarily. The ladies provided a large assortment of good tilings, which would compare favourably with any town supply. The music was supplied by Mrs. Clark. Mr. l.es Clark was an efficient M.C., and kept the dancers going merrily. Owing' to h 'avy showers and Ciunder during the early part of the evening the attendance was not quite as large as usual, but those who ventured out enjoyed themselves so much that dancing was kept up till 3.-15 a.m. A substantial sum was obtained for a start, which we expect to be made very much larger next month after we have our basket social. Mr. A. Melnnes. chairman of the monument committee, thanked the ladies for their support and the good things provided, and invited everyone to bring their baskets next time.
PUNI. HOCKEY CLUB FORMED. A meeting of Puni-ites interested in the formation of a hockey club was held on Monday night. A club was formed and present indications point to a large membership.
