FRANKLIN RAGING CLUB
COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the above was held on Wednesday night, the president (Mr. W. Claud Motion) occupying the chair. Complimentary references were made in regard to the attitude of the Auckland Racing Club in sending Mr. Hill up to report on the proposed course. A draft of the proposed rules of the club was submitted by the executive committee, which was adopted, with the alteration that the committee be 24 instead of 18, in order that a wide district might be proportionately represented. Twelve members will retire annually. Eight members will form a quorum. Mr. A. P. Daysh was appointed secretary up to the end of the financial year, August 31. It was stated that the course, as outlined, had been pronounced upon by experts as being second to none in New Zealand. Considerable discussion took place on the question of holding a nontotalisator meeting. Finally, Mr. Dynes Fulton moved that no meeting be held during the present year (up till August 31). Mr. Taylor (Tuakau) seconded, and that nothing be done in the way of improvements to the course until after the racing conference meets.—Carried almost unanimously. Every effort will be exerted to secure a totalisator permit.
