TOWN &&ARDS CO OPERATING. PAPAKURA. MANUREWA, * PAPATOETOE. WATER, LIGHTING. SANITATION, ROADING PLANT. GREAT POSSIBILITIES AHEAD. A very successful conference of members of the local bodies of Papakura, Papatoetoe and Manurewu was held at Manurewa on Mondav night in the Public Hall, and with one or two exceptions the whole of the several town boards were present . "V Dr. Biookfield, chairman of the Pupakura Town Board, was voted to the chair. Mr. 11. Lupton, chairman of Ihe Manurewa Town Board, outlined Ihe proceedings of his board, leadins' mi to the invitation and the object of the gathering. The sani tary service, as it obtained at Panakura: the pan system, and the board's control was dealt with by Mr D. W. Jones. The question of a dumping ground brought forth a lot of controversy.
Mr. E'l S. Pegler trusted the conference would not split on any one rock-jtfle, as a mover; of the resolution, calling the together, Uirrtight they could not exl*ct to accomplish very much at their first meeting. He hoped the members woi<W affirm the principle of co-operation as between the several bodies represented to further get an expression of opinion on the various ohiects named, then set up sub-committees, say, one or two members from each board, draft proposals to submit at a future meeting. The several boards had alreadv co-operated on railway matters to tlveir. mutaal benefit. As public proximitv to one another. with identical interests, he strongly advocated the cultivation of a stionir co-(»f)^ition. Mr. I>. W'. ' Tones supported the Weaker, and il was decided at the fllose of the meeting that each hoard would then elect their representatives for each gub-connVHtoe. 11 .
