DISTRICT NEWS.

PATUMAHOE. PROPOSED BRANCH, M.U., 1.0.0. F. by an advertisement in this issue it will be noted that a meeting will be held in the Patumahoe Hall on Thursday, March 4, with the object of forming a branch of the above lodge, when an address will be delivered by Bro. J. McLeod, P.C.S., of Auckland. All interested, of both sexes, are invited to attend. It may hardly be necessary to state that it is essential to the social and material welfare of every man that he should belong to at least one order of the various reputable lodges in vogue. Unlike many another institution, a man may be a member of a lodge, such as the M.U., 1.0.0.F, is of equal, and son etimes even greater benefit to a man's wife and dependants than to himself. For single men the lodge is a source of social enjoyment, wheiein they learn those , very useful arts of social intercourse md the conduct oi meetings, etc,, that stand them in good stead for their lifetimes, to say nothing of the aelp they are entitled to in time of need. Similar advantages, accrue to married men, with the added gain that, sooner or later, the medical and other assistance provided by the lodge are a greater boon to the married man, his wife and his family. Join a lodge, by all means, for it is scarcely possible to go very wrong in adopting such a course. It is a step onward to the ideal of brotherhood among men, resting on a solid foundation of mutual helpfulness and goodwill, and devoid of all fibre-sap-pftis: charity and sickly sentimentality. Your lodge is a self-sustained mutual benefit society.—Ed., "F. and P. Times."
