WATER INSTEAD OF BENZINE
A THIEF HOODWINKED. T':e acute shortage of benzine in the Franklin distiict lias, during the last week or so, fostered petty thieving, and many cases of pilfering have been reported. During last week a local motor-car proprietor had several tins of benzine stolen, and endeavoured to catch the thief, but failed directly, but indirectly the thief has been hoodwinked, and by the time this article appears in print will be wondering what on earth has come over his machinery. The car owner in question, a couple of nights ago, filled two benzine tins with water, soldered the tins, making them appear as if they were fresh tins of benzine. He placed both in a case, and nailed them dow.i, placing the case and its contents outside his shed. He arose early next morning, and to his delight found the case and the substituta benzine missing. Someone will] suffer, Who i 3 it ?
