LOAN POLL SUCCESS. (Own Correspondent). The result of the recent poll in connection with the loan for a water supply has given very general satisfaction, not only to the ratepayers favouring the scheme, but to all who desire to see progressive movement in the district. We understand that a piivate enterprise is endeavouring to secure the right to provide electricity for light and power, but no doubt the Town Board will not be behindhand in this. Disastrous Fire. A very disastrous fire occurred on Wednesday afternoon, when Mr. C. Mills' fine six-roomed house on the South Road wass completely destroyed. At the time of the outbreak the family was absent, and with a gale blowing, no water supply, and few helpers available, the building was soon demolished. Strenuous efforts saved some furniture, but as there was only a small insurance, Mr. Mills will be a heavy loser. Building Sections. Building sections and farmlets are daily changing hands. One enterprising builder has just secured 11 acres of Mr. Evans' property, which he intsnds to cut up for intending home builders. , Mr. Linstrum has sold his farmlet and house in Settlement Road, and leaves soon for his new home near Green Lane. Bowling. The local bowling club sent two rinks to Howick on Saturday last, where they suffered a severe defeat. They are loud in praise of the delightful situation of the Howick grounds, and the hospitality extended to them there. "Glenora" Subdivision. The surveyors are at work laying out the roads preparatory to cutting up "Glenora" into sections of suitable areas for intending purchasers.
