FRANKLIN SUB-PROVINCIAL DISTRICT

NEW ZEALAND FARMERS' UNION. MEETING OF DELEGATES. A meeting of the Franklin SubProvincial District New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the rooms of the Franklin A. and P. So< iety, Manukau Road, on Tuesday, 10th inst. Thfc following delegates were present: Messrs. 11. O. Mellsop, Waiuku (in chair), Hodgkinson, Glenbrook, D. D. Hayes (Otaua), A. L. Hull (Waiuku), F. A. Harcombe (Kohe Kohe), W. L. West (Waiuku), A. Jones (Waipini), E. T. Forst (Tuakau), J. Schlaepfer (Pukekohe), E. Piggott (Buckland). L. L. Morgan (Pukekohe East), and A. Bell (Mauku). Letters were received from the Prime Minister stating that he had made arragements for coal to be supplied to the Te Toa, trading on the Manukau between Onehunga and the Manukau Peninsula.

The Department of Agriculture wrote stating it was impossible to remove the restrictions re inoculation of veal calves for sale in Westfield.

A lengthy circular was read re the draft of wool from the Marlborough Woolgrowers' Association. After a lot of discussion, it was proposed by Mr. Harcombe, seconded by Mr. Hull, that we support the Marlborough Woolgrowers' Association to have the draft removed, and that the Auckland delegate to the proposed conference be asked to represent the Franklin Sub-Provincial District. A letter was received from the County Council re a remit from the Otaua branch dealing with the individualisation of native lands and the rabbit nuisance.

It was decided to hold a meeting next month. Mr. Harcombe reported that the Kohe Kohe branch was endeavouring to get the Government to secure the Pokoroa Estate fur closer settlement.
