MANUREWA TOWN BOARD
Monthly Meeting (Continued from Tuesday). Slaughterhouse License. An application for a slaughterhouse license was made by Mr. H. Wood, of Manurewa.—The board had no objection to a license being granted, providing the building was erected according to the requirements.—The matter was referred to the Government inspector with a recommendation that the license be granted. Footbridge. It was decided to request the Railway Department to erect a footbridge for passengers at the end of Mrs. Whyte's Road. Scoria. On the motion of Mr. Pegler, seconded by the chairman, it was decided to acquire from the Railway Department all the scoria on the old railway track from the station to Brown's Road. Great South Road. The matter of the Great South Road being in a disgraceful state of repair was brought under the board's notice by Mr. E. S. Pegler, who said that the "wait-do-nothing-till-April policy" of the Manukau County Council was a disgrace; in fact, a criminal neglect. He moved that the County Council be asked to expend all the unexpended rates collected in the board's district on the Great South Road.
1 Mr. Corin, in seconding the motion, agreed with Mr. Pegler's remarks. He said the chairman of the council had assured him that the council would expend the rates jcollected "on the main roads in the board's area. They had done nothing, and in his own mind he felt they had no intention of dojpg the work. The other menders concurred, «mi the motion was carried unanimously. Reserve Road. The chairman stated that the • county engineer's estimate for the work on Reserve Road wa^l2^tj»-' council to contribute the work. On the chairman's motion, seconded by Mr. Woods, the .
