WAIAU PA.
DL'LiAYFD road work. The problem troubling the settlers of Waiau Pa + he most at present is thut of the metalling of the main road from Patumahoe to Waiau Pa whnrf. When the 'can for this work was submitted the greatest opposition came from tfae Papakura-PrOJi end, s and the from Waiu Pa and > and yet the settlers on the former mentioned end have had thefr metalling done first. M ybo there were good reasons for this, but-jievertheless, the settlers at Waiau ra are feeling ven* sore on the point. 'Tfcey had sheir post office shifted in order to be on* the metalled are paying £lO a year more for tltf service, but the road is not metalled yet. Also, the cartage of cream on the clay road costs "more than it would on the metalf and preludes the use of motor lorries, which ai? so extensively used in other parts for cream cartage. It is probable that urgent representations on the matter will i)e made to the Franklin County Council, panting out that if the work is not dc.ie within the next six weeks the wet weather will be on again, and the s£ctle>e» fjrjll have to endure |jkt*another winter - with a boggy W^road.
