" The Franklin and Pukekohe Times" has on more than one occasion refused to accept advertisements from certain firms, on the ground that the roods for sale were not what the intended advertising matter represented them to be. This is one of the many ways in which the advertiser in a reputable newspaper acquires added prestige: the fact of the advertisement being accepted is proof that, in the opinion of the manager of the paper, the public (for which the press is guardian) can rely on the wareß being up to the advertised standard The non-advertiser baa no such responsible tribute paid him (or hii integrity.
