PUBLISHED ON TUESDAY AND FRIDAY AFTERNOONS.

The Times. FRIDAY, JANUARY 9, 1920. A. & P. SHOW

"We nothing extenuate, nor tet down auaKt in maKce."

FEBRUARY 27th and 28th are the dates of the Franklin A. & P. Autumn Show, and therefore it is desirable that every man and woman having ttip interests of the district at heart should endeavour by all possible means to make the Show a record success. We have reason to believe that the entries for stock will be very satisfactory, though on account of the dry weather the produce displays may possibly indicate a falling off. The schedules (being printed at the TIMES office) will be ready in a few days, and every member or other person interested who has not received a copy of the schedule next week should apply to the secretary at once, when copies will be forwarded. It is particularly requested that the entries should be notified to the secretary as early as possible in order that the printing in connexion with the same may be proceeded with in good time for the show. If these are lata, then great inconvenience is caused to the secretary, and also to the printers. In regard to membership, the organisation has not been as well patronised as it deserves, and we sincerely hope that a large number of new names will be handed fj&|Shortly for enrolment. An Agr&ultural and Pastoral Society, by means of its competitive shows, confers great benefits on a district. The results mean steady improvement in the standard of stock and produce raised, and an encouragement to housewives and minors to cultivate those valuable home industries which woulcl otherwise be liable to suffer decay. The benefits conferred are so many and varied that it is hard to form an estimate of their totality, but it is safe tecsay that there is no other organisation in the district more worthy of the active support of the class of people described as those having a stake in the country. Sign the form advertised to-day, and post to the secretary without delay.
