MAUKU
TENNIS MATCH With the return of their players from the war, the local tenuis clubs are now able to revive the game of tennis atter a spell of five years. On Saturday, January 3rd, a team of 12 players from the Pukekoh? Suburban Club journeyed over to Mauku to play a match, the first of the season locally. At the end of the game the visitors were in the lead with a narrow mar gin ot 4 games, the totals being Mauku 116, Suburban 120. The following are the individual sets, Mauku names being mentioned first:
Gents' singles—Perry lost to Donahoe 4—7, E Gillon lost to L Reynolds I—7, S Moor lost to W Reynolds 3—7, D Ward lost to J Reynolds 2—7, A Bell lost to W Adams 2-7, N Gillon beat L Roose 7—6.
Ladies' Singles--Miss Goldsworthy lost to Mrs Reynolds 1 -7, Miss Wright lost to Mrs Hemming 5-7, Mrs Zinzan beat Miss Lawrie 7—2, Miss Banciman beat Miss Reynolds 7—5, Miss Gillon beat MrsKeane7-6, Miss Outfield beat Miss Lauer 7-2.
