TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.
Works Committee.
Clerk Re-appointed. A special meeting o! the Works Committee of the Tuakau Town Board, to consider applications for the position of clerk, caused by the resignation of Mr A. H Tapper, was held on December 23rd. There were present: Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman) . C Finch, W Barnaby, B. Q. Qeraghty, Jas Pirret, Geo 8. Lapwood, and J. M. Mungali. # Three applications wep received from Messrs T. (i. Patterson, Geo/ Revell, and A. H. Tapper. The ciiairmac moved, and Mr Finch seconded, that Mr Tapper be appointed at a salary of £l-50 per annum. Mr Mungali moved as an amend ment, that Mr Revell be appointed at the same salary as Mr Tapper was at present receiving:, £7B per annum, and that his offer of an office at 4a per week be accepted Mr Lapwood seconded. The amendment was lost, the mover and seconder and Mr Qeraghty voting for it and the chairman, and Messrs Finch and Barnaby against Mr Firret did not vote, and the chairman's casting vote, was against the amendment. The motion was carried. A further amendment by Mr Pirrett, thpt Mr T. Q. Patterson be appointed elerk, lapsed for the want o! a seconder. Mr Mungali then moved, that the Board advertise the situation, offering a salary it was proposed to give Mr Tapper, (£l5O per annum), and that preference be given to a returned soldier, should any apply.— Lapted for want of a seconder.
