BOARD MEETING. V The Papatoetoe Town Board met on December 16tb In the absence of Mr J. Watson, Chairman, Mr A. Hall waa voted to the chair. Councillors present were: F. If ulcock, 8. McOollough, J. Death, A. VvTimewell, J. Bryant. r ~..,._;. It was decided that tHQPmtd purchase a four-hone road grader' for £165.

Mr Bryant proposed that a scow load of shell be obtained with the needful quantify of tar for the tarring and s nding of the footpaths. It was moved by Mr MoUullough,» seconded by Mr Mulcock, that Mr Bryant bs .authorised to get prices' and arrange to* a cargo of shell.— Carried. . The Clerk of the Board having received notice from-the Labour Department that the Board choose the day for the weekly half holiday, it was decided to ask the-shop keepers to attend the next meeting of the Board to be held on January 6tb, 1920. „ j The agreement was read by the Clerk re keeping of the Manttkau County roads in repair when carting metal from quarry.—lt was decided to refer the agreement to the Board's solicitors for perusal. A The Engineer, Mr Spenotr, having obtained the levels for the improvement to the approach to the station from Station Road to a chain past the footbridge, it was decided to call tenders for forming, metalling and curbing the same* The motion being proposed by Mr Timewell, seconded by Mr Death. Mr Ward asked the Board to secure the services of a caretaker for the Town Hall, as he was desioue of resigning the position —lt was l*ft to the Town Hall Committee to arrange. , The Chairman reported that he had been approached by a resident of Papatoetoe re the beautifying of the site of the old railway station the said gentleman having offered to subscribe £lO towards die cost of same.-It was decided that the Board approach the Railway Department for permission to act in the matter.

Accounts amounting to £lO 12s 3d were passed for payment.
