TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.
December Meeting.
(Staff Reporter) The Tuakau Town Foard met on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman), J. M. Munglil, B. Q Geraghty, C. Finch, W. Barnaby, Jas. Pirret, Geo. Lapwood and the Clerk (Mr A. H Tapper). The Pukekohe R.S.A Ball committee wrote thanking the Board for the use of flags, for the late ball. The clerk was instructed to write to District Engineer and point out that in order to complete the work, of expending the £I,OOO authorised to complete George Street, that he expediate the approval of the plans in order that the work be proceeded with immediately. It was pointed out that the balance of £ ">OO would be voted after March
The chairman reported that the ferce in front of Mr Tapper's place, where the Board was removing c'ay from, required repairing. He pointed out that the fence was nearly falling down due to earth being removed. Mr Tapper intimated his indention of supplying posts.' On the motion of Messrs Barnaby and Fulton it was decided to do the work
It was pointed out that there was a large clump of Oalefornian thistle 9 on the cricket ground, which should be removed—lt was resolved to write to the owner requesting him to have the thistles removed.
It was decided to take steps to have oxide daisies removed in the Town Board area.
It was decided to request an owner of property in Dominion Road to cut the hedge which was overhang ■ ing on the footpath The next meeting was fixed for January 6th. Accounts amounting to £6B 7s 10d were approved and passed for payment- The overdraft on the general account whs shown at £651 10s 7d and the Loan Account showed a credit balance of £B6B 17s Bd, plus special rates £lO5 15s 7d. It was reported that over £4OO was still due in rates. clerk's RESIGNATION The Clerk, Mr A. H. Tapper, tendered his resignation as cierk, same to take effect <>n December 31st. The chairman said he regretted very much that the clerk had forwarded his resignation. Mr Tapper had been clerk ever since the inception of the Board, mid had always carried out his duties faith fully and well. His work had left no room for exception He moved that the clerk be asked to reconsider his decision and give a final answer at next meeting of the Board. Mr Finch seconded. All endorsed the chairman's remarks.
Mr MungaU moved as an amendment that the resignation be accepted and added that notice of motion reported above, ro advertising for a new clerk.
Lapsed for want of a seconder. The motion was carried, Mr Mungall voting against, Mr Lapwood did not show his hand in the matter.
