PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.

Monday's Meeting. {Staff Reporter.) The Papakura Town Board met on Monday night Present Dr A, W. P. Brookfield (Acting Chairman), and MesarsT. D. Cam, bell W. N Mcintosh, A. Willis, and the Clerk (Mr A L. Cooper). GREAT SOUTH ROAD. The Minister for Public Worse, Hon. W. Fraser, intimated that the item of £2OO (£ for £), which appeared on the 19181919 appropriations, was repeated on the Main Public Works Estimates for the , current financial year. He pointed out that the money was for lowering and remetJling the road between the Papakura Hotel, and the Picture Hall. Half of it was issued in Mty 1918, but no expenditure had com 9 to charge against the authority. The balance (£IOO, £ for £) on that item, would be issued directly the board submitted detailed plans specifications and estimates of cost, to the District Engineer, and they, are approved bj that officer. An additional £2OO (£ for £) was also provided on the supplementary estimates, last session for similar work on a portion of the road further south of the Board's district, in accordance with the Board's request, and would also be authorised when plans, etc., were approved. —Left in abeyance, until the committee of the Local Bodies ißoads Conference decided what steps they were taking to have main roads attended to. TREES ON YOUNO'T BEACH Mr H. T. Markwick requested the Board to remove imme liately, three trees, on Young's Beach road.— —lt was decided to give Mr Markwick permission to remove the trees at his own risk. CRICKET CLUIi The Papakura Cricket Club applied for permission to use the Railway Reserve.—Left to the chairman to deal with —lt was also decided to charge £1 for the season. FINANCE Accounts amounting to £l3O were approved and passed for payment The bank overdraft and unpresented cheques, was shown at £397 Is 9d, while cash in hand and the Post Office savings bank account reduced the debt balance, to £3Bl Is lid. BANITARV REPORT.

The Sanitary Inspector, Mr A. L Cooper, reported as follows : On Saturday, the 16th November, my attention was called to the stato existing at the end of a drain loading from the Globe Hotel. From this hotel at the south-eastern corner of the property a dram empties itself into a ditch running along the northern side of Buckland's land. At the end of the drain pipe there is a thick slimy collection of fluid which continues for severe! yards and eventually disappears amongst weeds which are growing in the ditch. If the public health is to be guarded some provision must be made to take the fluid right away.—lt was decided to ask the owner of the premises to have the drain attended to The report was adopted.
