"Reform Committee's Ineptitude.

Sir,—lf it is not party-politics of a nature that is contrary to your attitude of independence, I should like to sound a note of warning for the good of my Party, which is Reform. I note that the propaganda published in the Franklis and Pukekohe Times by the Labour Candidate is causing widespread interest, ard I have heard his manifesto favourably commented on as far north as Papatoetoe and as far south as Rangiriri. Now, sir, it seems to me that as we have exempted Mr Massey from spending much time in his own Electorate, we cannot, on top of that, afford to let other parties have all the say in the local paper. I was considerably astonished to fiod that the Premier's Pukekohe Committee was too somnolent even to put an official announcement of Mr Massey's Pukekohe address in the Times until the day it was to be given! It strikes me that we need to take a lesson from rather ( ( uestionable sources, namely the Brewers and the Bolsheviki, on the value of propaganda. Do not think for a moment that I have any doubt about Mr Massey's returning to power, but if his majority is materially reduced the moral effect all over the Dominion will be bad. This would be particularly unfortunate in view of the fact that there may be yet another election at any time, as no one knows what the political future has in store for us. For reasons of age, health, and other personal considerations, I cannot now take the active part in political warfare that I once enjoyed immensely, but I trust that the younger ones will not allow the seemingly more vigorous Radicals to make us appear to be old-fogey in spirit and lacking in—what shall I sa y?_« ginger." Let our Reform platform and propagauda be well published right here in Pukekohe—the central town of the electorate, and the weakest one for us thus far. ARDENT REFORMER Pukekohe Hill, 27/11/19 We have considerably reduced the above letter, without omitting anything essential. We must again ask correspondents to be brief and to the poiut, otherwise their letters may find early oblivion in the waste paper basket.-En F. and P. Times]
