TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25 1919. PUKEKOHE LOAN PROPOSALS.
"We nothing exitnuaie, nor te.t down auaht in malwe,"
THAT the Borough of Pukekohe must raise loans for necessary public works is admitted by all who have given thought to the affairs of the town, The Council members realise this too, but are not quite as active as they might be in formulating definite proposals to be put before the ratepayers. Various genera! schemes have been under consideration for a long lime now, but no definite policy has been decided on. In the meantime, progress is being checked on account of the lack of means to provide the necessary facilities, especially in regard to lighting, water, drainage, and improved road*. The Council will meet to-morrow night to consider further various reports on these questions, and we hope that some definite announcements will he forthcoming at an early (Into. Local bodies all over the Dominion are getting ready to ask their
respective ratepayers to sanction the raising of loans, and if Pukekohe does not move very quickly it may find competition in the money market most embarrassing.
