BOWLING.

Labour Day Tourney. Members of the Pukekohe B >wling Club assembled on the Club's green on Labour Day in large numbers, the occasion being a one day tournament, promoted by the Club. Altogether, there wore about 90 bowlers present, of these 72 participated in the tournament, 20 of them hai'ing from Waiuku. The weather was glorious and thii together with the beautiful surroundings, made the dav's outing the mist succeisful ever hel l on the green. Play commenced punctually at 9 r> a.m., and tonliuueduntil 12 15 pm, when an adjournment for lunch was made. Play resumed at 1 pm. and continued until 7 o'clock. The various links were divided into two sections, namely A. and B. In the B eeotion, a team skipped by Mr Robt. El*ss of Pukekohe succeeded in winning, while a vigorious contest ensued for premiership in the A sec'ion, eventually, a rink skipped by Mr H King of Waiuku, predominated. It was a keen contest between Mr King's team and Mr J. H. Keith's link The final of the section s;w the e teams level, and according to rbe the teams had to play a further five tfeais, to decide the winner. Onc9 again they tied athr a kesnly fought contest, and a further head was ordered, resulting in a win for Mr King by a narrow margin. Owing to the light failing, the game had to be concluded with the aid of a lamp, from the pavilion. The final toams between Mnsrs Fitness' and King's will be played during n*xt week. Refreshment} provided by the Club were disperse I by the ladies, and this enhanced the success of the day's outing materially.
