SOCIAL A social, inaugurated by the Ladies' Guild in aid of funds for a Christmas Tree at a forthcoming bazaar to provide funds for paying off the debt on the church, was held on Wednesday evening last. The church was tastefully laid out in tables and fljwers, the credit being due to the Ladies' Guild. Mr Bailey brought a concert party with him from Pukekohe, namely, Miss Young, Messrs Fellows and Crispe. Miss Young carried nut the duties of pianist, and also sang several songs. Mr Fellows contributed a number of much appreciated songs, one being a solo accompanied by Mrs Torbet. Then Mr Crispe gave several humourous recitations which caused much fun. Mr Bailey, who officiated in a very capable manner as chairman, also favoured the audience with a recitation and a song. About half way through the programme, amidst a shower of pennies and silver coins, Miss Audrey Hattaway sang " Please Give me a Penny, Sir," realising lis 3d
At the close of the programme a splendid supper provided by the Ladies' Guild, was handed round, and was much enjoyed. During supper a collection was taken up, those present contributing freely. Mr Suter, on behalf of those present, thanked the visitors for the splendid and much enjoyed entertainment. 4 j
