PAPATOETOE.
TOWN BOARD MEEttNG
The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on October 21st. Present: Messrs J. Watson man), J. Bryant, H. Mulnock, 8. McCullock, A. Hall, A U. Timewell, J« Death, H. C Ernest, secretary. A further discussion re a shunting service took place, aH the members taking part. After considering the whole matter it was decided to await a reply from the Otahuhu Council. The Board's ranger sent in his resignation and Mr Ward, the Boards road foreman, was appointed in his place the Board instructing him to take proceedings against any person allowing cattle or horses to wander on the roads.
The Manurewa Board replied to the Clerk's letter re improved railway service to the effect that they were moving on the matter and would be only too pleased to co operate with the Papatoetoe Board. They suggested that a deputation of the Chairman of the several Boards interested wait upon Mr Massey (Prime Minister) and go into the whole question. It was decided to ask the Auckland Gas Company to attend to the lamps of the district as they were in a very unsatisfactory tondition. Several accounts were passed for payment. Mr J. Death brough up the question of by-laws he thought in framing them that it should be seen to that they were properly drawn up as in many instances where proper care had not been taken they were not worth the paper they were printed upon. Mr Watson thought the by laws should be got ready by the time the Board took full control next April and that the clerk write to Ellerslie for a copy of their by-laws.
