BUCKLAND.
TENNIBCLUBB\LL (From our Tuakau Correspondent) The Buckland Tennis Club plain and masquerade ball was held at Buckland on Friday night, October 10th. The hall was tastefully decorated in the Club's colours, there was a large attendance Th» following were the dresses worn: Mesdames Scholfield, " Geisha Girl;" Greenaway, "Ruination;" King, " Queen of Hearts;" Messrs Wilcox, " Day and Night;" Kearney, "Nigger;" Trotter, "Uncle Sam," W. Bullock, " Cowboy;" and Markwick, " Coon." Misses Wilcox, " Belgium Girl;" Cahill " Bhamrock;" Lauer, " Brittania;" Golding, " France;" Horn, "Starlight;" Bullock, " Irish leen;" McKean, " Swiss Lass;" E. Grifftn, "Rose of No Man's Land." Amongst others we noticed Mesdames Neal, black silk; Trotter, black silk, McKean, black satin; Markwick, black crepe de chine. Misses Geraghty, vieux rose crepe de chine; Wright, green silk with green silk net; Williams, black velvet and ninon; Green, cream net; Bishop, biscuit silk and nattier blue; Wilcox, embroidered voile.
Excellent music was provided by Miss M. Geraghty of Tuakau, extras by Mrs Schofield and Mia3 D. Wilcox, and an excellent supper was provided and all went off without a hitch. The secretary and committee deserve every praise for the way everything was arranged. Dancing was indulged in until the early hours of the morning.
