The Chairman reported on his visit to Wellington, accompanied by Mr J. Pirret, the gist of which appeared in the Times on Tuesday last.—On tho motion of Messrs Lapwood and Barnaby, both were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services. With regard to work on Cole's Road and Church Street Mr Fulton moved that the Engineer be instructed to go into and report on the cost of the work done in order that it could be charged up to the allocations for these roads. Mr Mungall said they could not charge it up to loan account because it was not new, and permanent work. The roads had not been graded, and it could not be classed as new work. Mr Pirret seconded the motion which was carried. An amendment that the cost be charged to general account, by Mr Mungall lapsed for want of a seconder.
In roply to Mr Geraghty, as to whether thoro was auy chance of getting the weigbridge erected now, tho chairman replied in the affirmative. The matter was in the hands of the ongineer, and he would urge him to push the matter on as soon as possible. The clerk stated that the timber had been ordered and would arrive at any time. The chairman moved that as the Hoard could have £IOOO, of the grant of £1,500, as sooa as it was ready for it, that the engineer be instructed to propare plans, specifications, and estimates, for the work between Pirret'a Corner and the English Church, and the Roman Catholic Church and the Board's boundary, George Street, and submit same to the Board for approval. Mr Mungall seconded and the motion was carried.
Mr Tapper, as a ratepayer, thought the .5.1") train from Auckland, arriving at Tuakau at 10 minutes to IS, should be reinstated. It would prove very beneficial to all concerned. On the motion of Mossrs Finch and Geraghty, the clork was instructed to write to tho Railway Department on the matter.
Arising out of a complaint received in regard to straying cattle, from Mr A. H. Roberts, manager of the old Waikato Coy's dairy factory, members strongly condemned tho nuisance. The by-laws will be amended to cope therewith.
