DRURY.
FARMERS' UNION MEETING
A meeting of the Drury Branch of Farmers' Union was held in the Drury Hall on Saturday evening, about the average number of members attending, with Mr W. H. C. Glasson as chairman Several matters of local interest were discussed, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Franklin County Council re proposed political platform, which, after discussion and several amendments was Anally agreed upon. It was also proposed to write surrounding branches, with the view of getting the suburban area on the railway extended to Drury. A letter was also received from the Clevedon Branch, setting forth a scheme for an exchange of branches, which was thought to be a good idea, and the branch resolved to co-operate in the scheme.
FOOTBALL. The Papakura footballers braved the elements and journeyed to Drury full strength on Saturday. Several of Dairy's men, owing to the inclemency of the weather, failed to turn up. At half time the scores were Papakura 3, Drury 0. Drury, who played a good defensive game with four men short, decided, owing to the hurricane that was blowing, not to continue the struggle, and everybody si j.turned to a more congenial temperature, the visitors being entertained to a dinner in the Drury Hotel.
