IMPORTED EXPERTS
Sn:,—l notice the Government intends bringing out two foresters to control this most important Depart ment. Evidently the Government has not prolited by the experience of importing railway managers.
To proceed to bring out from Home two men who will require years of experience here before they can understand the difference in climate, varieties of trees and mode of treatment is sheer folly! Surely the Department or the Dominion can furnish the men already acquainted with our conditions, and to debar such men from having a chance of securing the positions is manifestly unfair to those men on the spot who may have given years of study to this subject. We might just as well try importing a Premier from England ! The day has gone when we require to import these experts. E. ALLEN Buckland, 27 Sept. 1919 ["A bad habit is hard to eradicate, —Ei>.
