SPORTING
FRANKLIN RACING CLUB Bv " The Toff." Matters in connection with the Franklin Racing Club, are progressing very satisfactorily indeed. The Club has been registered, but so far nothing definite has been received with regards to a totalizator permit. It is quite on the cards, in fact I have been informed on good authority, that if it is decided to grant additional permits, Franklin will come first in the allocation. If the tote permit cannot be obtained for this season, the provisional Committee set up, will endeavour to get the members of the Club to run a non-totalisator meeting with the hope that a tote permit will be available for next season All concerned are eager'y looking forward to a good race meeting in Pukekohe in tho very near future. "The Toff" hopes, at no distant date to contri bute an article on the object of a raco meeting in a district. The brood mares, TeComa, (SoultPretoria), and Fresia, (Marb'.o ArmPretoria), the property of Messrs Roulston Bros, will this season visit the Englishjbrv d sire. Thurnham, who has a vory stout pedigree, claiming John of Saunt as his sire, and Lady Disdain as his dam. Messrs Roulston Bros should not regret sending such well-bred matrons of the stud, to such a highly bred entire. It will be interesting to see how the gets fare when their turn for sporting silk rolls round. At Eilerslie a " Tartar " Julian, is rapidly knocking Flowing Bowl and War Tank into shape in readiness for the Spring campaign. The pair claim engagements at the forthcoming Avondale n e ting.
