General Items i The following is a continuation of , Friday's report of Wednesday's : meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr 0. K Lawrie, presiding: Mrs E. M. Roose, " Rosemont " drew the Council's attention to the condition of the footpath leading to the nursing home, and requested it be put in thorough repair right away.—To be done as soon as material comes to hand. Mrs Maud Attewell requested the Council to open up a drain in Manukau Road, so as to enable the water backing up on her property to get away—The matter was referred to the Works' Committee who are to inspect and report at next meeting. Mr D. Goodwin wiote complaining about the state of the drain leading from his property to the recently formed road. He asked the Couneil to do the work and he would bear half cost of same £6. It was pointed out that the matter had been before the Council previously, and it was decided to clean the drain out on condition that he kept it clean for all time. On the motion of Crs Dent and Armstrong, Mr Goodwin was referred to the minutn on the books. An account for £1 16s for goods supplied during the "flu'' epidemic was received from Mr W. Roulston The account having been referred to the Council from the Hospital Board who pointed out that under Clause 67 of last year's " Washing-up" Bill, the Council had authority to pay the account.— Cr Hamilton stated that duiing the " flu " epidemic two patients were admitted to the temporary hospital. One was a woman who required a change of clothing and another was a returned soldier. The doctor ordered a change of clothing and he asked were they right in obtaining the clothing Councillors " Yea," Mr Hamilton contended that the Hospital Board should pay the ac count Fie suggested that the amount be paid and d-ducted from the Council's contribution. The New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association forwarded a lengthy report of the Lands' Committee as adopted by the recent con ference of the E 8 A. held at Christchurch. The report was considered by the Finance Committee, who reported that the report was ko fur reaching in effect that legislative authority would be uicossftry for the adoption of the scheme The NZRS.A was awaiting further advice from the Lands' CVmmittee in reference to the m itter. The committee recommended that the Council tike no action in the matter. The report was adopted.
