Proposed Loan, £IO,OOO. New Hall. Particulars of the wishes of the ratepayers in respect to the expenditure of the proposed loan of £IO,OOO for the roading of the Peninsula were received at the Franklin County Council meeting on Thursday, when the Secretary for the ratepayers (Mr F. A Hare ; mbe), advised as follows : That one-thud of all monies procured be expended on the Te Tora wharf ro.id, as from Murray's co ner to the wharf. One-third on the top Kolie Kohe road, and Cooper's road, the latter road being defined as that from Mil! ray's corner to the main roid coming from the cemetery. The top road is from Jus. McEwen's to Win, Douglas'. One-third on lower Kohe K'lie road and Ponsford Road, as follows : £2OO on Ponsford's Road ; £2OO on Rangiiiu (abutting Recall's property) ; tlio balance on lower K<he Kohe (the proposed main road to Awhitu, and on portions not provided for under the G-.verr.ment grant), as from the bridge at the foot of Harvey's Hill, to Liver's bridge, abutting Rangiriri i Ponsford's road is from biidgetoß McEwen's). The ratepayersalso'n guested that the Council alter the [ireson. sub division of the riding known as No. 5 sub division, to the Eduction Board fchool area boundary. And finally, the ra'opayers wished the above stated allue.uious to stand, whether the subsidy was secured or not. In any case it was hoped that sufficient money would be available to pay for the shelling of at least a portion of he wharf road
The I'ublic Trustee, in a letter to the Council, advised that owing to heavy commitments, lio could not entertain the Council's application for £IO,OOO loan.
