"We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice."
On Friday night the nucleus of what is intended to he " The Lower Waikato Returned Soldiers' Association " was formed at Pukekohe. This is undoubtedly a move in the right direction. Hitherto, there has been too much centralisation of management and control at Auckland which is not in the best interests of country members, nor is it desired by the Auckland Provincial Executive of the R.S.A. That body would much rather see sub-executives in the larger centres and branches in all the lesser towns. Over-centralis-ation is unwieldy, and much harder to organise and conduct business —to say nothing of the fact that country members, through their local branch, may be made fully conversant with the proceedings of every other branch and centre in the Dominion. With the enterprise and progressive spirit characteristic of the people of Waiuku, thev have already formed .1 branch of the R.S.A. in that thriving town, and it is to be hoped that for the general good of returned soldiers and their dependants in the county that the Waiuku and Pukekohe organisations will be able to work in cooperation. If anyone should show a spirit of helpfulness, comradeliness, and the value of unity, surely it is the returned soldiers! We hope, too, that the Pukekohe body will generate and maintain enthusiasm Inland interest in their organisation, from which much good to themselves, their dependants, and the general community
