Offenders before the Court. NOMINAL FINES IMPOSED. At Thursday's sitting of the Court the Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, dealt leniently with the persons charged with driving vehicles without lights, a thing he said he would not do again. The first to be called was .Joseph McGuire, of Glenbrook, who was charged with driving a gig without lights. The offenc o was committed on June 20th, at 5.30 p.m. Defendant was convicted and fined 55., and ordered to pay 12s. court costs. R, Hemming, for driving a gig along Manukau Road without lights, at twenty minutes to eight on June 25th, was fined 10s and 7s. court costs. John Keane who drove a gig along King Street at ten minutes past six o'clock explained that he lit the light, but the bottom fell out of the lamp. Owing to the street being lit up he did not notice the light was out. He was ordered to pay 7s. court costs.

R. Bilkey, who did not have a light on his gig at six o'clock was next to toe the mark. He admitted the offence, and was fined ss. and ordered to pay 7s. court costs. The next police case called was against H. Millar, who was charged for driving a motor-bus in King Street without the identification disc being easily distinguishable by night, contrary to the motor regulations. He was fined ss. and ordered to pay 7s. court costs. For leaving a vehicle standing in a public place, Edinburgh Street, after dark, C. Cooper was convicted and fined ss. and ordered to pay 7s. court costs.
