CARLTON
Quite a number of residents of Pukekohe West are at present engaged ereeting a church hall at Carlton, Pukekohe West, for the purpose of holding church services in. The building, which is erected on property donated for the purpose by Mr J. Steenson, is being constructed by purely voluntary labour, while the timber for the structure was paid for by voluntary donations. For the benefit of all residents it has been arranged for the church to be undenominational and ministers, irrespective of sect, are all at liberty to hold services when opportunity arises. The erection has been got up by the population in the near neighbourhood and although the structure will be a plain one, it will be comfortable, and without debt, and will be a great benefit to the small settlement in many ways. Services, indeed, in connection with many of the churches were held regularly in a barn, kindly lent for the occasion by Mrs Henderson, but since the property was disposed to Mr Malone the inhabitants decided to erect a building on a beautiful site of excellent land as above stated opposite the old site. Such a building will prove an acquisition to the district. It is expected to have the building completed in the course of a very short time.
