Farmers' Union Subscriptions.

SIR, In " Pithy Pars from Farmers' Union Conference," in your issue of M y 30th, our President deplores the small percentage of members out of the number available, also the number of unpaid subscriptions. I would suggest a remedy for the consideration of all concerned. Get an Act of Parliament compelling both employers and employees to belong to some union and also make unpaid fees sueable for in the common Courts. Once a man had paid his fees, I think he would take more interest in the doings of his union, and we would become a power in the land, whose friendship would be worth having, instead of being, as at present, the grist between the mill stones of labour and capital. " Financial Member." Port Waikato. 7th June, 1919.
