FARMER'S UNION.

Franklin Sub-Provincial ' Area. i The monthly meeting of the sub-provincial area was held in the Agricultural Society's office at Pukekohe. EXPERIMENTAL FARM. A letter was received from the Franklin A. & P. Society, asking the Farmer's Union to support an Experimental Farm for the Lower Waikato. After discussion it was decided to support the movement, and the President (Mr H. 0. Melsop) and Mr Piggott were appointed as delegates to assist the society in this matter. POTATO EMBARGO. A letter was received from the Hon. Mr Mac Donald, Minister for Agriculture, stating that the embargo had been lifted on potatoes up to the 30th June, 1919. On the motion of Mr Johns it was decided to reply that the branch was pleased that the embargo had been lifted, but it was too late to be of any benefit to this District as the crop was already sold. The placing of an embargo in such an haphazard manner had caused loss to many of the small farmers and growers, and would tend to retard next year's output. PAY UP. A discussion took place as to the financial position of the subProvincial Area. After going into figures it was found out that if every member paid up his subscription, the Area would be out of debt, as the Executive had taken steps to cut down expenditure. The secretary was instructed to circularise every member and urge him to use his influence in getting the subscriptions paid. If he had paid his own let him try and induce his neighbour to pay up. The branch Secretaries are to collect the subscriptions. NEW BRANCH. A new branch being opened at Waiau Pa, the Secretary wat instructed to write to the Provincial Secretary and ask him to supply it with suitable stationery.
