ENTERTAINMENTS.

" Victory " Ball TO-NIGHT For the past few years, owing to the strain and stress of war, indulgence in entertainments requiring at all heavy expense in production have been inadvisable from the economic point of view, and also, perhaps, not in good taste while the cables were laden with messages that chilled the hearts and brought tears to tho eyes of bereaved ones. Now, happily, the golden sun of peace sheds its rays from horizon to horizon, and we can once more enter into the zest and lilt of life.

The revival of indoor peace time entertainments might well be said to be signified in Pukekohe by the " Victory " Bali, b?ing held by the Loyal Pukekohe Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., in the Premier Hall tonight. During the past few weeks an energetic and enthusiastic committee have been carefully, zealously making all arrangements for a function worthy of the past record of the Order. Those to whom the glamour of the ballroom and the charming recreation of dancing appeals will miss something wonh while if they f-iil to attend tonight.

Lyceum Pictures. EDUOAHVE FILM On Saturday night one of the films of a good all round screening depicted the conduct and contents of a huge modorn first-class New York hotel, from basement to ceiling. To cater for its customers, numbering, probably, about 2000 per day, this large establishment was self-con-tained to a remarkable degree. A bakery of sufficient capacity to supply bread and sundries for a town like Pulcekoho was only one of the adjuncts. A coiiimodio s fish room, capable of holding a small trawler load of lish was included in the equipment, and so on. The movies took one from tho domestic quarteis right through to the splendid dining rooms, whero a large crowd of typical New Yorkers and cosmopolitans could be seen satisfying the wants of the " inner man." The star and supporting features give feeling, colour and variety, pathos and humour to a numerous and appreciative houso. WEDNESt)\Y An ideal feature of unique interest euiitled "Masks and Faces" will be shown at the Premier Hall tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
