Mr Leo, B. Pulham, of Mercer, announces having taken over his former partaer's share in the business of H. 8. Valentine and Co.
Mr A. Grigor, manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, who has recovered from his recent indisposition has resumed duties, and Mr H. H. O'Loughlin of the Auckland branch, who was relieving here, has returned to Auckland.
Mr R E. H. Pilson, late of the Signalling Corps, N.Z (R 18., recently discharged, is spending a holiday with Pukekohe friends, Mr and Mrs Sears.
Mr and Mrs F. Cave and family, of Pukekohe, leave for Gisborne on Tuesday. Mr Cave sold his fruit shop, and is in partnership with his brothers in an extensive sawmilling business in Gisborne. The death occurred of Mr Edward Arthur Parkinson, son of Mr T. Parkinson, of Motumaoho, on Tuesday last. The deceased, who was employed by the Piako County Council, was killed by a fall of earth at the County's pit. He was a returned soldier about 20 years of age, recently married, and a brother of Mr Parkinson, of Puni.
Pvt " Barney " Foy arrived back in Pukekohe, from France, yesterday. Prior to joining to colours, Pvt. Foy was one of Pukekohe's leading potato-growers, but, consequent on his departure for service, his paddocks were laid down in grass. He will now, however, resume his former occupation, and his return, accordingly, means that he will, as before, assist in promoting Pukekohe's main industry.
