DAIRY AMALGAMATION

To thk Editor

Sir,—ln your issue of 23rd inat. there appears a letter from Q. P. Ewing, entitled " A Warning " to N.Z.D.A. shareholders, and this is " published by arrangement," which I presume, means it is being paid for ; also one can hardly take up any paper in the South Auckland district but what one sees the name of G. P. Ewing figuring. Now, may I ask who is this G. P. Ewing ? Is he the N.Z DA. itself, or what may he be ? And is he so interested in the shareholders, and himself such a philanthropist that he is willing and prepared to splash money about like skim milk for their benefit? Certainly it is a tine spirit if genuine. He says he has tried to get a list of shareholders and failed. That in itself is a good thing, be cause it will save him the expense of printing and sendiag out some 2000 to 3000 circulars, compiled by a person who is out of his depth. Firstly he is doing all he can, bv propaganda against amalgamation, and secondly by attending meetings, getting enlightenment oon NZI) A. matters (of which no doubt he was ignorant) speaking heartily in favmr of amalgamation, ami proposing hearty votes of thanks to the speakers. From this and his note of "warning"to the shareholders we can only deduct that he is, to use ihe old phrase, " running and hunting," or Mr Editor, do you think he, in company with our late manager, is contomplating a trip t > tit* Floly Land ?

Mr Ewing speaks about the New Zealand Dairy Association Directors being out-generalled; lam pleased to say he himself is certainly outgeneraled. Why does not Mr E ,ving coma ou' and say what he means, instead of writing as though he hid some hidden motive behind nil his statements? I might add, it is very pleasing to notice the unanimous votes given in favour of amalgama tion in the reports oi the meetings addressed by the various Directors and others, despite the face that Mr Ewing's camouflaged lotters are appearing in most of tho papers. Shareholders! Don't neglect to send in your proxies at once Thanking you in anticipation. Yours, etc, W. li WEST.
