FOOTBALL.
FRANKLIN RUGBY UNION. A meeting of delegates of football clubs adjacent to Pukekohe was held on Tuesday, at Pukekohe, with & view to forming a Franklin Rugby Union. There were present representatives from Pukekohe, Waiuku, Bombay, and Tuakau clubs. Mr George Armstrong, President of the Pukekohe club, was voted to the chair, and briefly explained the objects of the meeting. It was decided, on the motion of Mr W. Adams, seconded by Mr 8. Marshall, that a Union be formed, and t£at it be called "The Franklin Rugby Union " The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows Patron, Mr R. T. Reid (Waiuku); President, Mr Dynes Fulton (Tuakau) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs G. Coruthwaite, W. H. Thomas, and Pen Evans (Bombay), W. Barnaby, W. H. Northmore, and J. Pirret (Tuakau), E J. Morrison, W. L. We&t, and W. Claud Motion (Waiuku), J. Beatty, J. Kennelley, C Clarke (Pukekohe); Secretary, E. Ryan; Treasurer, W. L. Jones; Selection Committee, D. R. Reynolds, Dynes Falton, C. Coutts, and J. Beatty • Auditor, B. C. Carpenter. The Secretary was empowered to procure a supply of new rule-books. The Secretary was instructed to write to a representative of each club with a view to forming a Referee's Association, and pointing out that the teams are to play under the new Rugby rules.
The colours were determined as follows -.—Pukekohe, maroon; Waiuku, black; Bombay, maroon and white; Tuakau, black and white; Union colours, all black. It was decided that when Bombay and Tuakau teams meet the Waiuku team, the matches to eventuate at Pukekohe, the visiting teams to sharo the gate money. Mr George Armstrong, President of the Pukekohe club, intimated his intention to present a silver cup, to be won outright by the team annexing the 1919 competition.—lt was decided to accept Mr Armstrong's offer, and on the motion of Mr S. Marshall, seconded by Mr T. Gibson, the donor was accorded a hearty vote of thanks by acclamation.
The draw for the first round re suited as follows: Bekior.
May 24th —Waiuku v Pukekohe, at Pukekohe; Tuakau v Bombay, at Bombay. May 31st—Pukekohe v Tuakau, at Tuakau ; Bombay v Waiuku, at Pukekohe.
June 6th- Bombay v Pukekche, at Pukekohe ; Tuakau v Waiuku, at Pukekohe. Junior. Tho draw for the junior competition resulted the same as above, but the matches are to be played on the ground of the tirst-mentioned club, excepting in the cases of Tuakau v Waiuku, and Bombay v Waiuku, when these matches will take place at Pukekohe. It was decided to strictly urge all players to turn out in their club colours. Breaches of this rule will result in a fine on offenders.
All players and irtending players are requested, by advertisement in this issue, to turn up to a football practice, on the parade ground, tomorrow (Saturday)
