MAUKU

BENEFIT OF RAILWAY Although the Waiuku branch railway is open only to Mauku, considerable use is being made of the line. The stationmastei at Pukekohe states that last week he received an order from a Mauku resident, which was the largest he had ever received from one ct nsiguor. A special train left Mauku las: week with 12 trucks of chaff and one truck of bailed straw. This order shows what will be done at other points when the line is completed. Since the new engineer, Mr Hinton, took charge, considerable progress has been made with the large culvert over the Mauku Creek. The.piles necessary for the concrete foundations have tow all beea driven, and it is expected that a start will be made with the coi creting this week. As soon as th ; s crossing is completed good progress should be made towards Waiuku as a good deal of the formatiod is finished.
