CLEVEDON.

A tad shooting accident occurred at Olevedon last Tuesday and resulted in the death of Mr Eric T Ferugson, younger son of Mr aud Mrs A Ferguson, of Elliss street, Wellington. The deoeased was on a visit to Riverside, and at about 7 a.m. he lett the house to go rabbit shooting, in accordance with his usual custom. 3e did not return to breakfast, and becoming alarmed as to bis safety, Mr Rupert Waters went to look for him. The body was discovered a short distance "from the house, the deceased having been shot through the head. From the position of (he body it is clear that Mr Ferguson had got through a fence and was pulling the gun through after him when it was discharged. Death must have been instantaneous. An inquest was held at noon on Wednesday by the district coroner, Mr Cecil Roadley, whon a Terdict of accidental death wan returned. The coroner remarked upon tho number of aceidents which had been caused of late by the neglect of the precaution to carry guns in a safe manner, and once again stressed the point upon urging sportsmen when getting through a fence to put the gun through first and lay it down. Mr Roadley contended that this would obviate shooting accidents.
