TUAKAU TOWN BOABD MONTHLY- MEETING j^ The monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board was held on Tuesday last the members present being j Messrs James Pirret (in the chair), B 0 Oeraghty, W. Barnaby, C. Finch, J. M. Mungall, and George r Lapwood with the clerk, Mr A. H. Tapper. The chairman (Mr Dynes Fulton) ' who was away in Hamilton, forwarded an apology for absence. A BEQUEST DECLINED Mr J. J. Dromgool waited on the - Board and made application for a grant of pipes in order to tarn the water across the road adjacent to bis property. Mr Pirret said he was not in favour of granting pipes in this case. If the Board gave pipes to one person, others would come forward with a similar request. Mr Dromgool urged that as a ratepayer he was entitled to a little consideration. Mr Mungall thought any ratepayer who graded a road should have some consideration. By doing such work at their own expense ratepayjfMM saved the Board considerable exr fpise. He then moved that a person who regraded the road to his house jbe given pipes to keep the water from.destroying the portion of the road rijjtrsled. Mr Pirret thought an approach should be made. Mr Dromgool suggested the erection f steps on cither side to provide for access from the north and: south. Mr Mungall moved that the i Engineer he instructed to prepare a ' sketch for proposed steps to give j ent- ar.ee to the Church, the same to , be submitted to the Church Com j I mittee fur approval. ] j Mr Lapwood seconded and the j proposition was carried. ' MISCELLANEOUS. ! With regard to the Conference of delegates held at Hamilton in con- ' nection with the Hora Horo- j Awapuna Hydro Electric Scheme, i the secretary applied for payment of' a levy of £2 2s made on local bodies j to meet preliminary expenses and it was resolved to forward a cheque for i the amount. The acting Chairman mentioned ! that the Board's stone-crusher had ; j airived and that Mr Smeed would commence the crushing of spawls , ; early next we k i I IXA.NTE.
