OTAHUHU.

OTAHUHU BCHOOL COMMITTEE The usual monthly meeting of the Othauhu School Committeee was held last Thursday evening, Mr J. Hunter presiding. The sub-committee appointed at the previous meeting to consider ways and means for the holding of a school picnic reported that in view of the many demands .made on the people during the currency of the war and owing to the epidemic they considered they were not justified in soliciting the assistance of the parents in providing the necessary funds for the holding of a picnic this year. The estimated cost was calculated to run into anything between £4O and £SO. It was resolved to keep the matter in view for next year but probably a small function will take place in connection with the official opening of the new school soon and a children's programme included. Messrs H. Wills and G. W. Kemp lay were appointed delegates t( represent the Otahuhu committee ai the primary schools committer gathering to be held in the Grafton Library on March 12th. Members expressed gratification with the appointment of Mr Fred. Bullia as assistant master. This will be his second term in the district where he gave every satiefac tiou during his previous term. The head master's report stated that during the present month the school had only been opened halftime on account of the heat which militated against the children's best efforts being made but ia all probability full hours would be resumed it the beginning of next month. A communication was received 'rom the Education Board to the >ffect that their architect (Mr Farell) would pay a visit to Otahahu ind discuss with the local committee he question of acquiiing additional and to enable all the buildings being tlaced on a new site.
