MANUREWA.

MANUKEWA TOWN BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held in the public hall on Monday, 2.5 th ult., the members present being —Messrs 0 H. Lupton (Chairman), E. 8. Pegler, F. W. Wood, T. J Oorin, and Q. Coxhead, with the Clerk (Mr H. Kay).—Messrs E J Butterworth and G. Smith were absent through sickness. The Ohairman reported as to what he had done to cope with the requirements of the district in the uiattur of the prevailing epidemic He stated that he had applied to and had obtained from the Hospital Board an equipment for ten beds for a local hoipital if one were needed, He had also called a public meeting to consider the steps to be taken, and had arranged with the Postal authorities to have Mr Dalton connected by night with the doctor, Mr Dilton at the same time being given to understand that the Board would be responsible for the cost of benzine used in running his car during the epidemic—The action of the Chairman was endorsed.

The report of the Works Committee on the road inspection, which was to have been submitted, was not completed owing to delay caused by the epidemic, and it was decided to deal with it at the next meeting. The question of the making of crossings from the road into private properties cropped up, and it was decided to deal with the same at the next meeting.

The Chairman gave notice of motion that he would bring up at the next meeting of the Board the advisability of going in for a loan policy.
