Summer Fodder for Stock Japanese Millet. This Millet has proved itself to be one of the most useful forage plants for the Auckland Province. It is an annual of exceedingly rapid growth standing four leet to six feet bitfh and yields an enormous crop of excellent green fodder which may be cut several times during the season, and will make splendid hay if not wanted for green feed. Sown first week in November it can be cut first woek in January, cut or feed off before it comes into flower, shut up again for a second cutting, and perhaps later for a third. Japanese Millet has proved most serviceable, being rich in milk producing properties and yields a much heavier crop in the summer than the grass and clovers generally used ; sown in late spring when frosts are over, it can be grazed or cut all the summer and then closed for hay, which may be cut into really nutritious chaff.
