OTAHUHU.

The organisation at Otahuhu, headed by the Mayor (Mr A. McDonald), members of the Borough Council), and the Vicar (the Rev. H. Mason), leaves nothing wanting for doing everything humanely possible to alleviate the sufferings of those affected by the influenza scourge. Last wight-- there were 15 patients under treatment in the temporary hospital in the Public Hall but to-day some of the better cases are to be transferred to Constable Moss' residence, which is to be utilised as a convalscent home. Three trained nurses are engaged at the hospital, adequate assistance being rendered them by local lady volunteers and Nurse Gribble (East Tamaki) being in control. The death roll at the hospital up to last night totalled four viz Messrs H. G. Wilson (chief engineer at Messrs Hellaby's works) Charles Dickson (Manakau County Council's Foreman of Works) and Roberts, together with Mrs Lane, a visitor from Waihi. The Town Clerk (Mr W. J. Dinnison) acts as the pivot directing the Health Committee's operations and his ability in all details of management is conspicuously revealed by the efficiency of the arrangements. It was with great regret that information was received in Otahuhu last evening that, as the result of nursing influenza patients at one of tbe temporary hospitals in Auckland, Miss Janet Hancock, the matron of St Mary's Homes, Otahuhu, had contracted the disease and had passed awayearlier in the day.
