BUCKLAND.
In connection with the Buckland flower show, which was to have been held on Friday and Saturday last, the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey), before knowing that the undertaking was postponed, wired Mr H. H. D. Wily as follows: pressure of important official work, I am unable to leave Wellington to attend the flower show. I know full well that the loyal people of Buokland and district must heartily rejoice, in common with the rest of the Empire, in the achievement of final victory which has crowned the strenuous efforts of our navy and army in the greatest war in the world's history. May the final peace be worthy of the tremendous sacri fices that have been made, and ensure the end of wars for all time to come. A spirit of thankfulness to Divine Providence should pervade our national gratitude at this time of celebrations. Please express my greetings to all." Among the victims of influenza has been Mr James Michael Smith, who passed away at a private hospital in Auckland on Sunday last. The deceased, who of late had lived in Auckland, was well known in Buckland, being the only son of Mrs Annie and the late Mr James Bmith l'he funeral took place at Tuakau this morning.
