PAPAKURA.
At Papakura the influenza epidemic appears to be abating, the Papakura Town Board's efforts to combat the complaint evidently having not been in vain. In the township itself the number of cases reported is decreasing. On Wednesday there were 22 cases in the Parish Hall temporary hospital and 17 in a ladies' temporary hospital, but quite a number are convalescent and expected to be soon discharged. The bureau situated at the Broadway under the control of Mrs A. D. Baker, Mr Harold Wilson and Rev W. C. Wood has been exceptionally busy arranging to have cases from Drury, Hunua, and Manurewa and Clevedon admitted to the temporary hospitals in Papakura. Mr T. D. Campbell is in charge of the outside work in the way of conveying patients to the institutions. An excellent staff of nurses and assistants has been enrolled and everything possible is being done. The whole organisation is complete in every detail. Dr A. W. P. Brookfield has been a very busy man of late and he is rapidly approaching nature's limit of endurance. Constable Johnston is now convalescent, and was discharged from the temporary hospital yesterday.— Mr W. N. Mcintosh, who was an inmate of the Auckland Hospital, from pneumonic influenza, has recovered, and was able to leave the institution yesterday. —Mr D. W Jones' attack of influenza was in slight form, and he is making rapid progress towards recovery.
